Formerly named the Penola North Hotel, in the early days the establishment looked after the Bush Workers of the South East, such as the humble shearers, teamsters, timber-cutters and rouse-abouts as other public houses in the area visited by the 'Gentlemen' did not welcome these Bushmen.
So before long, the Penola North was nicknamed and fondly referred to as the "Bushman's Inn". Today, officially named Bushman's Inn, paying tribute to the all the old-time Bushmen of Australia who had passed through over he centuries, the State Heritage listed building has been restored as a local cafe & wine bar, dishing up hearty cafe-style meals while utilising some of the finest Limestone Coast produce.
The Bushman's Inn Cafe and Wine Bar attracts group celebrations, conference and meeting diners, holidaying couples and travelling business men and women who enjoy a Bushman's evening after a long day on the road.
Our staff aim to help you enjoy your Bushman's experience as you warm to the helpful service, hearty menu and welcoming atmosphere, whether its thawing out by the log fire with glass of Coonawarra Cabernet and a mouth watering red wine and rosemary lamb shank, on roast root-vegetables and creamy mash potato, or dining in the summer months with a refreshing glass of Limestone Coast Sauvignon Blanc and a dish of crispy chilli tempura squid on a gutsy Greek salad.
Bushman's Inn also serves tasty breakfasts, Vittoria coffee and an array of desserts. |
